Session Notes:
Goal: mostly H400, some HII, some PN
Alignment went smoothly: Polaris/Procyon in 8mm, error 0.275
360 clear. Little dipper in SF lightdome.
Poor seeing: brighter stars twinkling.

Observations: 26mm: gal. faint. elliptical w/elliptical core. Halo. No structure. ~1/40 fov. Shares fov with round gal 1/4 fov to N or NNE [NGC4041]. Sky is bright.
13mm: hard focus. gal better defined.
8mm: drift suggest EW orientation.

Observations: [PN is not large: I’m seeing some other cloudiness in field]
26mm: Not found. Did see what appears to be very faint, very large disk, ~ 1/4 fov. Apparent mostly because it dims & blurs some stars.
26mm+OIII: no response to OIII
26mm+NPB: possibly a bare response to NPB
17mm: hint of some blurring of some stars over 1/3 fov.
17mm+OIII: possibly some response.
17mm+NPB: possibly some response: very nebulous: faint/ghostly, splotchy/wispy.
13mm: closing on 1/2 fov. Very nebulous/faint. More impression than sighting.
13mm+OIII: very mild response.
13mm+NPB: Some response.

Observations: 26mm: gal. fov shows at least three other gal. 4459 close to brighter field star. 1/4 fov to NE a faint round gal gently brighter toward center. 1/3 fov to SE is second round gal. Just beyond ~1/2 fov away. NGC4459: not quite round to elliptical, gently brighter toward center, nucleus large (nearly as large as halo). oriented ESE/WNW. [Brighter field star HD108676 @ 8.7m; gal to ENE is NGC4474; gals to SE are NGC4477 and NGC4479]

Observations: Also NGC2372: two parts of same pn (double-lobed)
26mm: PN. Appears as two very close (barely separated) PN. Both suddenly brighter toward center, with nebulosity and channel running between them. Oriented SSW/NNE.
26mm+OIII: Responds well. Both lobes brighten and channel becomes clearer. Seeing not good tonight.
26mm+NPB: Responds well. Two distinct pieces. Both suddenly brighter toward center.
13mm: Starting to see some filling in between lobes. Both lobes distinct and brighter toward center. S lobe brighter than N lobe. S lobe appears to have a stellar-like component.
13mm+OIII: responds well. Two distinct lobes, both suddenly brighter toward center, one to S brighter and more centrally condensed.
13mm+NPB: responds but not as well as w/OIII. Description same as w/OIII.
8mm: Two lobes and central star between lobes. Central * is AV2 (not present DV).
8mm+OIII: Responds well. Two lobes still distinct. Some nebulosity enveloping entire structure. No central *
8mm+NPB: Responds OK. Same desc as OIII. No central *.

13mm: Nice elongation. Shows bulge. Nice halo.

Observations: 26mm: pn. Not present.
26mm+OIII: Some response. hint of large structure. A ring, 1/4 fov in diam. Uneven in illumination. Thicker and brighter to W, less substantial otherwise. Moves with field stars.
26mm+NPB: Responds better than with OIII. More of ring is visible, but part that I see with OIII is brighter with OIII. Moves with field stars.
13mm: part of a ring is visible: entire ring would have diam ~1/3 fov, what I can see is only ~ 1/2 of ring. Moves with field stars
13mm+OIII: present, but no increased contrast. Moves with field stars
13mm+NPB: present, but no increased contrast. Moves with field stars.
Too large for 8mm and don’t think the 17mm would help much.

Observations: 13mm: gal. Elliptical, 3:1. Large: 1/8 fov in long dimension. Brighter toward center elongated nucleus. Quite nice.
8mm: orientation NS. In N side halo has toward its edge a bright lump: second gal? some feature this gal? Very definite lump of brightness. [No other object shows in charts. IDSA field guide shows NGC2903 as a barred spiral with NGC2905 as bright HII region. SDSS images shows halo may appear somewhat brighter to N].
