A group of about 10 with 5 telescopes met at the Cowboy Shack site, under clearing skies, fair to good seeing, waning wind and mild temperatures.
Jupiter and Mercury both appeared during twilight, the only evening planets now.
Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks showed well in the fading twilight of the western sky. In spite of a stated magnitude of around 5, it was below naked-eye visibility, faint and fuzzy in binoculars. In our telescope eyepieces a fairly bright coma was clear, but color and tail structure were not really evident except through imaging.
Other telescopic objects viewed included the Orion Nebula and several galaxies in Ursa Major and Canes Venatici.
