August 2026 Special Meeting

August 19 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm MDT
  • « Solar Observation Event at the Botanical Gardens
  • Dark Sky Land event at the Rail Yard »

The August meeting of the Santa Fe Stargazers will be held on August 19th at 7:00 PM at the Santa Fe Community College, Lecture Hall #216 (located just across the hall from the Planetarium).

This month, we are pleased to host a free public presentation regarding an ancient astronomical site in Chaco Canyon known as the “Rock of the Sun.” Led by NASA’s Dr. Cherilynn Morrow, the lecture will explore how the NASA PUNCH mission used modern technology to study an Ancestral Puebloan petroglyph that may have recorded solar events observed during a total solar eclipse and associated solar storm in the year 1097.
