Regular Monthly Meeting

September 15, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm MDT

Join the regular monthly meeting of the Santa Fe Stargazers.

  • Monthly Sky Report: Robert Powers
  • Feature Presentation: “The Exciting World of Exoplanets”, by Mark Giovanazzi.
    • Abstract: For millennia, people have wondered about the possibility of life beyond Earth. Today, we are capable of searching for signs of life by detecting and exploring exoplanets (planets outside of our solar system), which are one of the fastest-growing fields in astrophysics.Tune in to this virtual public science talk where University of Pennsylvania Astrophysics PhD student Mark Giovinazzi will provide an overview of exoplanets, how we detect them, as well as a discussion of the latest and greatest discoveries in the field. This event will be interactive and is perfect for all general audiences interested in astronomy, exoplanets, and the potential for life elsewhere in the Universe. Come with curiosity, an open-mind, and bring any questions you may have!
  • Member Reports: All.
  • Business meeting (outreach, observing, programming, dark sky advocacy report).

This meeting will be held via Zoom. Zoom meeting links and and other information will be distributed on the Members list (NOT the Posts or Events lists) separately one week before the meeting, and again on the day of the meeting. The Zoom meeting link is listed as the Event Web Site. If you wish to attend but are not on the Members list please contact the event organizer.
